Augustine on the Legacy of Plato's Academy
is an Associate Professor in the Philosophy Department. He came to Loyola in 1998 after having taught at Cornell, Emory, Georgia State University, and Boston College. Dr. Dutton earned his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1993 and holds undergraduate degrees in Music Composition (B.M.) and Philosophy (B.A.) from the University of North Texas. Dr. Dutton's primary areas of research are medieval and early modern philosophy, the history of science in the Middle Ages and Early Modernity, and the philosophy of religion. He is currently working on a book on Augustine's response to Academic skepticism.
