Research Interests
We are a multidisciplinary research group, working at the intersection of synthetic organic chemistry, biochemistry, photophysics, nanotechnology and biomedical imaging. Our main focus is the development of optical probes for visualizing and quantifying physiological processes occurring in the brain in health and disease. We use methods of synthetic chemistry and biochemistry to design and construct optical sensors for real-time monitoring and quantification of neurotransmitters and small ions in vivo. These probes aim to uncover the mechanisms of interneuronal communication and information transmission in the brain on the molecular level.
Students in our group will have an opportunity to work in highly collaborative multidisciplinary environment, and will receive broad training in synthetic organic chemistry, biochemistry, photophysics, nanotechnology and biomedical imaging.
