Thomas Dow, PhD 2006, receives 2019 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty Recognition from the American Association of Community Colleges

Loyola University graduate Dr. Thomas Dow has received a 2019 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty Recognition from the American Association of Community Colleges. This national award recognizes individuals who make a difference in the classroom by demonstrating passion, showing a willingness to support students inside and outside of the classroom, participating in college committees and going above and beyond what is required to ensure student success.

Dr. Dow was named the 2018 Illinois Community College Trustees Association Outstanding Full-Time Faculty Award winner and was the Illinois nominee for the Association of Community College Trustees Regional award. In addition, in 2018, he received a League Excellence Award from the League for Innovation in the Community College and was named Professor of the Year at Moraine Valley Community College.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Wabash College in 1989, a Master鈥檚 degree in English from 草莓社区 in 1996 and earned a Ph.D. in English from 草莓社区 in 2006. He is a professor of English and Department Chair of Communications, Literature and Languages at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois.

Dr. Dow was also named  for his contributions in and outside the classroom. The English Department celebrates his dedication to his students and his institution!
