About

Adam Negrusz, Ph.D., F-ABFT, is a Lecturer of Forensic Sciences at the Forensic Science Program at the 草莓社区, Forensic Toxicology Consultant, board-certified forensic toxicologist (Fellow of The American Board of Forensic Toxicology), a former Laboratory Director (2014 - 2020), Director of Research, Clinical Consultant and a Vice-President at the United States Drug Testing Laboratories, Inc. He is also an Associate Professor Emeritus of Biopharmaceutical Sciences at the Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences (presently Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences), College of Pharmacy, University of Illinois at Chicago.  

Adam received his Bachelor in Pharmacy degree from Nicolaus Copernicus Medical University in Krakow, Poland in 1981, Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the same institution (1989), and Habilitated Doctor from Collegium Medicum Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland in 2001. After 8 years at the Department of Toxicology Medical University in Krakow, he joined the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1990. After completion of his postdoctoral training he worked for one year as a Toxicologist III at the Cook County Office of the Medical Examiner. 

In 1993 he re-joined University of Illinois College of Pharmacy and in 1995 became an Assistant Professor of Forensic Sciences and an Assistant Director of Graduate Studies in Forensic Sciences. In 2002 he was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure. In 2004 Dr. Adam Negrusz was appointed as a Director of the University of Illinois at Chicago Animal Forensic Toxicology Laboratory. He remained in this capacity until his departure from the University in 2014.

Overall, he has over 40 years of experience in forensic toxicology and drug analysis which has resulted in publication of over 60 articles and book chapters, over 70 abstracts presented at scientific meetings, over 30 professional analytical chemistry reports for sponsors, and many standard operating procedures. He is a co-editor of now second edition of the book Clarke’s Analytical Forensic Toxicology.

Dr. Negrusz is a Fellow (Toxicology Section) of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, a member of the Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT), The International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT), the Society of Hair Testing, Midwest Association for Toxicology and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (MATT), Chicago Chromatography Discussion Group, and a retired member of Polish Society of Toxicology.
