About
Gabriela Buitr贸n Vera (Quito, Ecuador) is a researcher and educator. She completed her Ph.D. in Latin American Literature and Culture at the University of Colorado, Boulder (CU), where she also obtained a graduate certificate in Women and Gender Studies. Her research draws together debates about climate catastrophes, disaster narratives, migration, history, and gender. Her academic writing and pedagogy explore the intersection between sociopolitical phenomena and civil response to disasters.
As she draws from her experience as an undocumented individual and now a DACA recipient, she is working on a project tentatively titled Documenting Undocumented and Dacamented Narratives of Chicago.
