About Us
The Facilities Management Division supports the University’s mission of “offering its students a transformative experience by planning, building, and maintaining an environment for our campus community to learn and live.” As part of the Facilities, Environmental Services helps facilitate a safe and healthy environment for students, staff, and other stakeholders to explore, learn, and achieve their full potential.
Environmental Services provides the following:
- Serve as a university resource regarding occupational health and safety topics, collaborating with campus departments.
- Act as a liaison between the University and regulatory agencies, maintaining effective communication channels and ensuring a comprehensive understanding of regulatory standards and guidelines concerning environmental, health, and safety issues.
- Offer consultation and inspections for environmental, health, and safety matters.
- Develop safety and health guidelines and standard operating procedures.
- Facilitate health and safety training.
- Provide occupational health and safety resources to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other departments regarding the hazard communication program.
- Aid with emergency response protocols and procedures.
Environmental Services can help provide current information regarding environmental and occupational health and safety issues. The University's coupled with our comprehensive safety program are part of the overall strategy for ensuring a safe environment at all ²ÝÝ®ÉçÇø campuses.

EXPERIENCE
Over 36 years of comprehensive experience in the environmental, health, safety, and construction fields. Worked with maintenance, grounds, and construction management departments for over ten years to facilitate school district projects and align budgets. Conducted yearly surveys of school facilities with the Regional Office of Education for ten years. Aided construction management team with Health and Life Safety and facility projects for the school district. Aided school district Safety and Security department with evacuation plans. Worked with maintenance department to facilitate fire extinguisher and elevator inspections.
Experience in regulatory compliance (established protocols and communication with regulatory agencies), Local Education Agency Designated Asbestos Program Manager, indoor environmental quality, asbestos, lead-based paint, and mold investigations, industrial hygiene sampling, OSHA compliance auditing, health and safety plan development/review, specification/RFP development, asbestos and lead-based paint management, lead in drinking water, abatement monitoring, class instruction, operation & maintenance plan development, phase I environmental site assessments, underground storage tank management, property transfer audits, arc flash management program, integrated pest management program, hazard communication program, respiratory protection program, silica program management, and confined space program.
Evaluated workplaces for occupational and environmental hazards, developed sampling strategies to efficiently utilize resources, and has performed exposure monitoring of employees for a variety of solvents, particulates, metals, and gases. Conducted numerous indoor air quality and microbial investigations in a variety of institutions. Collected hundreds of air samples for airborne fungi and bulk samples for microbial contamination in schools, residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Developed specifications and managed projects for the removal of mold, asbestos, lead-based paint, and damaged building materials in commercial, industrial, governmental, school, and residential properties.
Inspected numerous buildings for asbestos and lead-based paint. Monitored asbestos removal projects for over 34 years and is proficient at both Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) and Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) sampling protocols. Developed specifications for the removal of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) and Operations & Maintenance Plans for maintaining ACMs in place. Performed over 100 Phase I ESAs and/or property transfer audits as part of Brownfield Redevelopment activities and various commercial and industrial site transfers.
